A voice for the people of Haltwhistle
Haltwhistle Town Council
When COUNTRYSIDE EXCHANGE SCHEME visited HALTWHISTLE in 2003 from America this is what they found.
However, we did see areas that need improvement if the community is to realise its potential. We were overwhelmed with the number of plans, coordinating committees’ etc. However, there seems to have been much more talk than action. The connection to Hadrian’s Wall needs to be made and true
partnerships with the agencies running the various facilities along the wall are needed. There seems to be a fair amount of negativity within the community about the loss of a past way of life. There is also a growing understanding that the community does have fantastic natural and cultural resources both within and next to it. The overall impression is that of a community with more going for it than against it.

Well 7 years on we are still talking I am wondering how many times we have missed the boat
18 months ago I thought of two ideas which are on the next two pages.
We as a town have got to think of something to make us some money or we are sunk we must forget all the hidden agendas and all work together before its too late I am being very straight with you the clock is ticking where are we going to get money from don’t say grants because if you do you’re living in cloud cuckoo land there won’t be any, them days are over.
So what's to go Haltwhistle Partnership,Leisure Centre and Library I think in that order so the town dies last one out shuts the gate now that's the worst case scenario.
The easy way put it on the rates problem solved.
The way forward well cable car out because One North East has spent its money on Electric cars see what I think of them go to fairy dust click here.
Now Green Energy the best one is wind with a good sized windmill you can make £400,000 a year do we need that much why not go into a partnership with another town or village what we need is a group of like minded people to take this forward for Haltwhistle and wherever. The same would apply to water turbines but you would not make as much money about £40,000 a year read all about it in Green Energy click here.
Anybody know the name of the company that is testing wind speed on plenmellor fell we could look at the possibility of buying a windmill on their wind farm or indeed anywhere in the country would do after all we would only be selling the electricity to the National Grid.
A ray of hope I heard on the news this morning Saturday 17th July 2010 County Councils have not to be to hard on charities and help them where they can so that’s Haltwhistle Partnership and the Haltwhistle Swimming and Leisure Centre they are both charities.
