The deputation from Haltwhistle attended the West Area Committee Meeting which took place at Haydon Bridge on 7th July, to present a petition against the closure of the Day Care Centres. The petition had 1,093 signatures plus 3 emails from local M.P.s
When the meeting commenced Councillor Colin Horncastle (Chairman) stated that the public normally asked questions throughout the meeting but from this meeting they would only be allowed to speak during public questions and that would only last for 30 minutes. What was he afraid of? Did he think the deputation from Haltwhistle (which consisted of 3 old age pensioners and 1 other) was going to hijack his meeting. The petition was duly presented, he was asked by a member of the public if he would read out the emails from the M.P.s but he refused. I got the impression from all the government papers that I have read and I’ve read a lot, public participation is one of the things the government is keen to have.
So because of his attitude, through this web site I will tell the whole world what they are up to.
